The Early Years
Founder Christina Ernst's love for travel began at the age of 18 when she declared her dream while hiking in the Rockies. This vision led her to pursue travel school and study at Georgia State University while working in travel agencies. Growing up with her parents, Bernie and Linda Nagy, who ran a successful mail order company specializing in European gifts and collectibles, Christina's first language was German, and she spent much of her childhood traveling across Europe.
Christina and her parents pioneered the first-ever Christmas Market tour to Germany and Austria, introducing travelers to the magic of European craftsmanship. From cuckoo clocks to glass ornaments, their tours focused on providing guests with a hands-on look at how iconic German products were made. These early tours laid the foundation for VIP Alpine Tours’ focus on the Alps and European regions, offering travelers a truly immersive experience.
The Middle Years
As VIP Alpine Tours began to flourish, Christina had bigger dreams. She expanded the company, opening a brick-and-mortar agency based in the Northeast Georgia mountains. With a love for vacation planning and an eye for detail, she quickly became a top producer for major travel and cruise vendors as well as tour wholesalers.
This period marked significant growth for the company, as Christina's passion for travel took her to new destinations and allowed her to add a talented team of travel advisors. Their combined expertise brought VIP Alpine Tours to new heights, catering not only to European tours but also to vacation planning for clients across the globe.
The Current Years
Despite challenges like 9/11, the 2008 economic downturn, and the Covid pandemic, Christina and her team have stayed committed to their craft, continually adapting to industry changes. With over 90 countries explored, Christina leads small group tours to Europe, discovering new destinations and creating unique experiences.
VIP Alpine Tours has shifted its focus to off-the-beaten-path destinations, small group tours, and women’s retreats, providing travelers with personalized, luxury experiences that meet their evolving needs.
